The REACH Environmental Revolution

The European Commission submitted in 2003 a proposal for a new regulatory system of chemicals known as REACH due to the shortcomings of the existing legislation which will be repealed once REACH comes into effect. Under the existing system, very few chemical substances were subject to in depth risk assessment. Thus, there is lack of information on most of the substances presently used. The article reviews the revolution expected to follow the REACH newly regime.
