Environmental Issues in Transactions, Mergers and Acquisitions

Manufacturers Association of Israel, Tel Aviv ‎ 03.04.2001

Just closed a successful deal in which you've acquired land or a firm … can you really rest now? Probably not, and that the attraction of the deal might be dimmed, if:  you failed to check on the activities that preceded your occupation in the land and the possibility of its contamination or you neglected to check on the firm's environmental record. In a one day conference held by the Manufacturers Association of Israel advocate Tzvi Levinson talked about the right questions ("due diligence") about the object of your interest, and defined the extent of its environmental liabilities. He  further offered a helping hand in shaping these sensitive negotiations by suggesting possible mechanisms for the division of environmental liabilities, for taking account of possible changes in their extent in light of new discoveries and in resolving disputes.
