Freedom of Information, Duties to Report of Fublic Firms and ADR

The Israel Bar, Tel Aviv ‎ 20.12.2001

Environmental issues both develop and penetrate ever deeper into different aspects of commercial and business life. "HOT" issues such as: freedom of information, duties to report of public firms and ADR, come up in the everyday lives of all the “players” on the environmental field. The goal of the conference was to raise these issues and answer questions such as:  May an environmental NGO demand that the public authority provide it with data, supplied by a factory, about its emissions to the environment, and initiate, based on this data, court procedures (civil or criminal) against it?  Should a public firm who received a warning about an administrative order of closing / revoking its Poisons Permit / its Business License, report it to the Securities Authority?  What types of environmental disputes are fit to be resolved in alternative frameworks to that of the court? This conference presented an opportunity for officials in authorities, industrialists, lawyers, environmental consultants and public representatives to clarify these issues and broaden their understanding of them. Adv. Tzvi Levinson,  who chairs the Israel Bar Environmental Committee, moderated this conference.
