Ionizing Radiation, Non-Ionizing Radiation and Radioactivity

Ionizing Radiation, Non-Ionizing Radiation and Radioactivity

Unlike the old days when people were exposed to natural sources of radiation only, today's life in modern society cannot avoid exposure to radiation in general and specifically electric and electromagnetic radiation. Refrigerators, fluorescent lamps, devices controlled by remote control, instrumentation metal detector at the entrance to shopping malls and public places, cell phones, computers, floor heating systems and electrical installations - are only a small part of many sources of electric and electromagnetic radiation we are exposed to every day, practically in any given moment.

There is great sensitivity among the public with regard to exposure to radiation and its risks. Perhaps its easy to dismiss this concerns out of hand, claiming that scientific knowledge that is available is not sufficient to establish a causal link between regular exposure to these radiation sources and an increased risk of disease. We believe, however, that the way to carrying out commercial projects that involve radiation sources should go through the process of providing a place for expression of those concerns and a sincere attempt in dealing with them. One of the most prominent principles of the Non-Ionizing Radiation Law, is the precautionary principle. According to this idea, if there is a risk of damage to the environment or to people, precautions must be taken in the absence of conclusive scientific evidence.

In order to make use of radiation source devices, the law requires a suitable permit. We can assist you to obtain the necessary permits and licenses to construct and operate devices with ionizing radiation or non-ionizing radiation and we can provide the counseling and legal guidance in this area. Sometimes the touch points and implications between your operation and the legal restrictions on radiation are not so clear and obvious. Just for example - is a permit required for operation of a home water disinfection device using U.V and emitting ionizing radiation, under the non-ionizing radiation Law ? What types of licenses are required to operate a device that emits non-ionizing radiation, and the operation of a device that emits ionizing radiation? Moreover, sometimes we are exposed to ionizing radiation without our awareness. We are very familiar with the area, and we will lead you safely along the narrow but essential path of the legal environmental road.

We also believe that this is indeed the cheapest and fastest way to achieve the ultimate common goal - the realization of a project while taking the necessary precautions to ensure good health and to the prevention of environmental damage. We will help minimize the conflicts between developers and residents who see themselves threatened by a project with radiation sources through the suggestion of creative solutions, combining the needs of the developer with the desires of the population living in close proximity to the project.
